One of the hardest things about being a mom is that your priorities are so changed from when you were childless. So much so that it can be hard to remember to take care of yourself. The thing is though that a mom that is burnt out and at the end of her tether all the time isn’t going to be her best self. That is why it’s important to look after you as well as the kids. OK, I know this isn’t the easiest thing in the world, especially when you have very little time and even fewer funds, but it is possible. Read on to find out how.
A relaxing bath
One thing that doesn’t cost the earth but can still be hugely relaxing and restorative for moms when they have had a tough day is a nice relaxing bath. Of course, to have one of these you do need to be able to find an hour, or so that will be uninterrupted. Not the simplest of tasks when you have kids. Although, you could pick a time when they are out at school or playgroup or when you have access to a baby sitter.
To make it extra special put on some relaxing music, the stuff they play in spas works well to give it a luxurious feel. Also, light a few candles, turn the main lights off, and use bubble bath. Then you can read, or just lie there and watch your thoughts go by. A luxury moms seldom get, and something that can help you feel refreshed and cared for. As well as helping you to get ready to go back to real life with a lot more spring in your step.
If you just can’t find the time to have a long relaxing bubble bath, it can be helpful to give yourself a little treat instead. After all, I bet you treat the kids whenever you can? But what sort of things make a good treat?
Well, I tend to think it’s stuff that will make your feel good while you are using it. That means a new item of makeup or tool like a Beauty Blender can work well. As they are relatively inexpensive and you can get a lot of use out of them. You could even ask a friend or family member to help you do a makeover with your new products. Something that will feel like a true pleasure, a treat just for you.
A trip out
Lastly, something that can give moms a real boost is getting out of the house without the kids in tow. After all, it can be hard work to get ready to even leave the house when you have little ones. As you have to pack a bag with nappies, wipes, and all that other stuff they will need. That is why going on a date, or out with the girls can feel so liberating, because for those few hours you only have yourself to worry about.
Good mom only activities including a trip to the movies, a meal out, or attending an attraction that you have wanted to visit for some time. But whatever you do, just remember that the occasional boost can work wonders when being a mom is feeling tough.
